Running the whole shop? The Small Business Spreadsheet Bundle ($12) adds bookkeeping, inventory and a freelance time & invoice tracker. Also on Etsy.
Listing fee: $0.20 when you publish a listing, and again each time it auto-renews after a sale. In an order of several items, each item sold renews the listing.
Transaction fee: 6.5% of what the buyer pays for the item, shipping and gift wrap (not sales tax).
Payment processing fee: in the US about 3% of the order total plus $0.25. Other countries differ.
Offsite Ads fee: only when a sale comes from an Etsy ad shown on another site: 15% of the order, or 12% if you made over $10,000 on Etsy in the past 12 months, capped at $100 per order.
Why the target price is higher than cost plus margin: most Etsy fees are a percentage of the price, so raising the price also raises the fees. The calculator solves for the price where your margin holds after fees.
