How to budget with this spreadsheet

1. Income. Enter your take-home pay (after tax) and any side income you expect this month.

2. Budget. Give every spending category a monthly amount. Not sure where to start? The 50/30/20 calculator splits your pay into needs, wants and savings.

3. Spent. At the end of the month (or every week), add up your bank and card statements per category and type the totals in the Spent column.

4. Review. Red negative numbers in Left are overspent categories. Move money from categories with room left, or raise the budget if it was unrealistic.

Saving for something specific, like a holiday or car repairs? Use the savings goal calculator to set the monthly amount for your Savings transfer line.
